A powerful, beautiful waterfall in the heart of the park.
Highlight: "See the region's highest-volume waterfall on this moderate, scenic hike."
The Experience: While its name is a mistake (early settlers mistook the native hemlock trees for cedar), this 50-foot waterfall boasts the greatest water volume in Hocking County, especially after rain or during spring thaw. The hike takes you down a scenic gorge to the base of the falls.
The Hike: The trail is rated moderate and contains some jagged rocks and steps, including the unique Democracy Steps, designed with the Fibonacci Sequence to make the descent more comfortable.
Location: Cedar Falls is centrally located and is a key junction point for the Grandma Gatewood Trail, connecting Old Man's Cave to the north and Ash Cave to the south.
